    What is Lamotrigine?

    • Lamotrigine, also known by its brand names including Lamictal, Laminal, and Lamitan. It is a type of anticonvulsant or antiepileptic medication.
    • Originally, studies found lamotrigine controlled seizures in epilepsy but studies also found that it is effective at stabilising mood in bipolar disorder.
    • Research shows that lamotrigine changes brain chemicals associated with mood.
    • To help prevent relapse, the usual dose for lamotrigine is 50- 200 mg/day.
